Bali National Golf Club

4+ (4 gold): one of our top-rated 4-star courses, worthy of 4½ stars.

Where2Golf says:

Bali National Golf Club (formerly known as Bali Golf & Country Club) is located on the Bukit Peninsula in southern Bali. This tree-lined parkland layout was totally revamped in 2013/14, ensuring the course maintained its reputation as one of the best on the holiday island of Bali.

Originally crafted by American designers Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright, the layout winds its way through a lush rainforest, while also offering many sea views. The course offers two contrasting nine-hole loops. On the front-nine you set-off into forest-clad hills, from which you will enjoy spectacular vistas out over the Indian Ocean to Nusa Penida and the volcanic mountains of East Bali. The back-nine takes you into giant coconut groves, where the carpet of verdant green fairways and greens, are intertwined with expansive sandy waste areas and a proliferation of bunkers large and small.

Water makes its presence felt on a few holes. Most notably at the near-island green par-4 9th, and again at the full-island green par-3 17th, a hole that brings you within 200 m of the ocean, but not quite to the beach.
