The Golf Guide to the Top Courses
Where2Golf says:

Bintan Lagoon Resort's Sea View course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, provides a wonderful mix of jungle-lined golf on the front-nine, with a chance to get alongside the South China Sea on the back-nine. The Sea View's excellent companion, the tougher, tighter and even more undulating Baker-Finch (Woodlands) course, doesn't contain quite so much diversity of environment as found on the Nicklaus. The Sea View's opening holes initially head inland, taking you through a naturally undulating jungle environment, and some wonderfully designed holes. Supporting Nicklaus's often large and expansive trade-mark bunkering, three small lakes ensure that water also poses a threat - especially at the short par-4 1st, par-5 5th and par-4 6th. The very enjoyable front-nine brings you back down to the attractive clubhouse, while also providing glimpses of the sea views to come. From the par-5 11th's immensely scenic tee-box, you start your short downhill journey towards the sea. One hole later, at the par-3 12th, you'll find yourself looking back towards the beach from a small promontory of land, on which the green of this spectacular oceanside hole sits. Although the par-4 13th leads you back inland, the watery threat makes a serious return on the closing four holes. The par-3 15th requires a carry over a small lake, while the par-5 16th and par-4 17th are tightly wrapped around the same lake, a potential disaster-zone for hookers of the ball. The stunning par-4 18th brings together in one spectacular view all the essential parts of this masterly layout - excellent bunkering, water threateningly in play, the splendid clubhouse and the sea beyond.

At this Stay & Play venue, the on-site accommodation is located close to the golf facilities.

Did you know?

Bintan Lagoon is an ideal holiday location and weekend retreat from the hustle and bustle of Singapore, but don't necessarily think you will be escaping from the crowds - Bintan is very popular with Singaporeans, especially at weekends. As part of the Bintan Beach International Resort area (affectionately known as "Singonesia") you can use Singapore Dollars here, as well as Indonesian rupiah. Both the Ian Baker-Finch and Jack Nicklaus courses at Bintan Lagoon will undergo a complete refurbishment in 2007/08. During this period the resort will be fully open with 27-holes of great golf always available.
