Where2Golf says:

The Golf Course at Adare Manor (as distinct from the neighbouring Adare Manor Golf Club) is the centrepiece at one of Ireland's most luxurious Stay&Play locations ... the stunning 840-acre Adare Manor estate. Together with the sumptuous manor house itself, and all its top level facilities, Adare Manor offers an unforgettable experience ... and one of the Emerald Isle's most expensive. Following Tom Fazio's redesign of the golf course in 2017, the green fee for visitors has been pitched at one of the highest in Europe.

Like most Robert Trent Jones layouts (now fully revamped by Tom Fazio), Adare Manor features an excellent and testing championship layout, with copious bunkering and many large "lunar landscape" greens. The course contains plenty of variety, with many pleasantly tree-lined holes, and others laid out in more open settings. A large lake brings water into play on the front-nine, while several back-nine holes make excellent use of the attractive River Maigue. The river flows through the entire length of the course, passing directly in front of the manor house along the way.

The long par-5 9th and slightly shorter 18th provide a fitting end to each of the excellent nine-hole loops. The manor house serves as a magnificent backdrop to the straight away 9th hole. The signature 18th hole is flanked on its leftside by the river. For braveheart big-hitters, there's the chance to cross the river and reach the green in two. For mere mortals, it's better to play it safe and savour the spectacle of the final green, which is overlooked by a historic cedar of Lebanon, the beautiful manor house also dominating the picturesque backdrop.

Did you know?

The Golf Course at Adare Manor, on which most resident visitors to Adare Manor come to play, was formerly known as the Adare Golf Club at Adare Manor. But as you may discover, the Robert Trent Jones designed (now Fazio revamped) course has a close but quite separate neighbour, the Adare Manor Golf Club.

The eponymous golf club was established in 1900 when the owners of Adare Manor gave some land to the local townsfolk for the purpose of establishing a golf course. Naturally, they called their club the Adare Manor Golf Club. Many years later, when the estate owners decided to build their own onsite course, they found the name Adare Manor Golf Club was already taken, and would not to be "handed back". As such, the estate owners adopted the name Adare Golf Club for their new course, to the confusion of everyone, including the local postmen. Today's set-up is perhaps a tad less confusing: on the sumptuous 5-star estate sits the Golf Course at Adare Manor; beyond its northern boundary lies the more modest but also enjoyable Adare Manor Golf Club.

The Adare Manor estate, the former seat of the Earls of Dunraven, is home to a sumptuously restored Manor House ... a gothic masterpiece of towers, turrets and ornamented stonework, which stands proudly on the bank of the River Maigue. The house is initially reminiscent of a grand chateau; many of its features shared by other great residences of the era in Britain and Ireland.

Several of Adare Manor's guest rooms are individually designed – bearing their own personality and proportion - many featuring details added by Lord and Lady Dunraven in the 1800s. The estate facilities include the renowned Robert Trent Jones designed golf course, revamped by Tom Fazio in 2017. Beyond golf, guests to this stunning resort can enjoy a wide-range of facilities and experiences, including a luxury Spa.
