Karuizawa Resort is a member of the Taiheiyo Club, which comprises 17 of Japan's top golf courses spread across different parts of the country, with several around Tokyo. The Club's flagship layout is the Gotemba course, located on the southeastern flank of Mount Fuji in the Shizuoka Prefecture.
In close proximity to the Karuizawa Resort is Mount Asama, the most active volcano on Honshu, the main island of Japan. This impressive volcano stands 2,568 m (8,425 ft) above sea level and continues to erupt on a relatively frequent basis (the last significant eruption occurring in 2009).
