From the I-15 in the centre of Las Vegas, take exit 42 and join Hwy 95 (Las Vegas Expressway) heading West, direction Indian Springs. After approx 20 miles on Hwy 95, take the Paiute Way / Nu Wav Kaiv Blvd exit. At top of ramp turn right direction Golf Club and follow Nu Wav Kaiv Blvd for 1 mile to golf entrance.
Paiute (Wolf)
Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort (Wolf course): Seemingly a world away from the bright lights of Las Vegas, but only 20 miles out of the city, the Paiute Golf Resort is home to three fabulous desert-style courses (Snow Mountain, Sun Mountain and Wolf). Each of the layouts is a gem in its own right, characterised by an immaculately maintained, classically testing Pete Dye design. There's also a spectacular, hacienda style clubhouse.
While the Sun Mountain (Tav-Ai-Kaiv) course has a lot in common with its twin the Snow Mountain (Nu-Wav-Kaiv), the Wolf (Kwetoo-Unuv) is the newest and arguably most challenging. In keeping with many of the world's great sand-based golf courses (inland or coastal), the Wolf occupies rolling, open terrain, ruggedly beautiful and distinctly penal if you stray too far from the fairways and first-cut of rough.
This is definitely a wolf dressed-up in wolf's clothing, with fairways a fraction tighter than on its two companion courses, bunkering that's deeper, and greens that are larger and faster. Around the slightly domed putting surfaces, there are plenty of slick run-off areas, from where your chipping skills will be thoroughly tested. If the wind is blowing through the valley, the extra length of the Wolf may also have you huffing and puffing a bit.
Like its companion courses, the Wolf offers the perfect antidote to any "blow-up" holes you may have ... fabulous views across to mountain ranges that define this wonderfully scenic desert valley. To the west, in the Spring Mountains, Mount Charleston impressively rises up to almost 12,000 feet above sea-level.
Pick of the holes: in spite of all the Wolf's linksy openness, it may well be the island green par-3 15th that hits the jackpot for you - a great example of a classic golf hole.

Paiute (sometimes written Piute) refers to two related groups of Native Americans: the Northern Paiute of California, Nevada and Oregon, and the Southern Paiute of Arizona, southeastern California, Nevada and Utah.
The Paiute people, as well as other Native Americans such as Bannocks, Comanches, Chemehuevi, Goshutes, and Shoshones, spoke with dialects of the Ute language (one of the Uto-Aztecan languages). The meaning of the word Paiute is not completely clear. Anthropologists have either interpreted it as pah-ute (meaning Water-Ute) or pai-ute (meaning True-Ute).
Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort is a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System, committed to the maintenance and development of the natural environment around the golf courses.
