Widlhorse Golf Club was originally established in 1958 and known as the Paradise Valley Country Club. It began its existence under the direction of Hank Greenspun, founder of the Las Vegas Sun. At one time, the property was owned by the enigmatic Howard Hughes and hosted the Sahara Invitational PGA tour stop from 1970 to 1972. The course has also been known as the Showboat Country Club, Los Verdes, Indian Wells and Royal Kenfield. It became the Wildhorse Golf Club in 1994, and is today municipally owned by the City of Henderson.
