Damai Golf & Country Club

4-star: generally an excellent standard golf course, well worth visiting.

Where2Golf says:

Damai Golf & Country Club: As the first Arnold Palmer-designed golf course in Malaysia, Damai G&CC features two contrasting nine-hole loops. Both head out-and-back from the clubhouse into wonderfully natural environments. On the front-nine the holes skirt the impressive foothills of Mount Santubong, while the back-nine loops around the resort hotel, with four glorious holes bordering the South China Sea.

The front-nine (Mountain-nine) includes a mix of open and tree-lined parkland holes that follow the contours of the mountain foothills. Here the setting is rugged natural rainforest. The back-nine (Ocean-nine) hugs the mangroves and rocky foreshore of the South China Sea. From the par-4 15th to the snaking par-5 18th the South China Sea is ever-present on the leftside of each hole. On both nines the smallish greens will test the accuracy of your approach work, while a few tightish drives will need to be made, especially on a couple of the more tree-lined holes.

MOST MEMORABLE HOLE: The signature 140-metre par-3 17th plays from a slightly elevated tee, down to a green surrounded on three sides by the South China Sea. Club selection is critical, not least when the sea breezes pick up in intensity.

At this Stay & Play venue, the on-site accommodation is located close to the golf facilities.
