El Camaleón Golf Club at the Mayakoba Resort

4+ (4 gold): one of our top-rated 4-star courses, worthy of 4½ stars.
El Camaleón Golf Club at the Mayakoba Resort Est. 2006

Where2Golf says:

El Camaleón Golf Club at the Mayakoba Resort is home to a championship golf course that ranks with some of the best in Mexico. This tree-lined and open parkland layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy.

As its name suggests, El Camaleón is ever changing. The layout weaves through three distinct environments, including dense tropical jungle, mangrove forests, and stunning, oceanfront stretches of sand. On several occasions the course is bisected by large limestone canals. Designer Greg Norman has even incorporated a cenote, an ancient underground cavern and river system into the centre of the opening fairway.

El Camaleón's par 3s are among the course's highlights, with the 7th and 15th holes playing right to the edge of the Carribbean Sea. In the distance is one of the world's largest coral reefs and the island of Cozumel. A must play if you are in the area. At this Stay&Play venue, the on-site accommodations are located close to the golf facilities.
