Where2Golf says:
De Goese Golf: At the far end of a row of smart new houses (each with its own canal-side mooring) lies the relatively new golf facility of De Goese Golf. Although set in a classically flat Dutch landscape, there is a surprising amount of rolling undulation built into Donald Steel's well-crafted layout.
What's not surprising here at Goese Golf is the plentiful supply of natural water hazards - enough to support a large array of native birdlife (geese included). The abundant water supply also provides numerous opportunities to threaten your tee and approach shots. Generous width fairways allow a relatively uninhibited use of the driver on the longer holes. But all that water, supported by extensive bunkering, places a premium on accurate approach work to the greens.
From the very good back-nine, you clearly see the naturalness and true flatness of the surrounding countryside. The size of the nearby defensive water dykes is impressive and you'll probably see one or two sails and ships' funnels mysteriously floating along the horizon. Much tree planting around the course has yet to mature; as it does "The Goose" will continue to grow in stature and golfing challenge.

De Goese takes its name from the large waterfowl that you'll see around the course. The Dutch word for goose is more commonly "gans", the word geese translates as "ganzen", and a gosling (young goose) as "gansje".
