Where2Golf says:
Kennemer Golf & Country Club: On the North Sea facing coast of the Dutch provinces of North and South Holland is a vast area of coastal duneland. Tucked into the sand hills well behind the shoreline, you'll find three of the best golf courses in the Netherlands - Kennemer is the most northerly, with Noordwijk and Royal Hague ("The Haagsche") not too far away to the south.
Located 2 km back from the sea, Kennemer Golf & Country Club is home to 27-holes of superb links golf. The three nine-hole loops, A (Van Hengel), B (Pennink) and C (Colt) each run out-and-back from the clubhouse. The A-course, built by Frank Pennink almost 50 years after it was originally designed by Harry Colt, occupies the eastern flank of Kennemer's sand dunes. It is altogether tighter, tougher, longer and more "bush-lined" than the other two nines.
Built shortly after Colt designed them in 1926, the B and C-nines offer the best combination (in our view). Both these nines exude a more classically open undulating links feel, complete with out-of-bounds and a railway line skirting part of the B-course. The B-nine wraps itself around the C, creating a loop within a loop, and ensuring a constantly varying wind direction as you proceed. Among the many fabulous links holes here, the mountainous par-3 15th (C-nine) is one of the really memorable holes.
There is not too much in view beyond the course except the neighbouring duneland, Zandvoort's "sky-line" and a few apartment blocks. Your full concentration can be maintained on the excellence of Kennemer's links, and negotiating your way safely round them. From the impressive thatched-roof clubhouse you look out onto the impressive links terrain that plays host to all three of Kennemer's nine-hole loops.

Designer:
An original nine-hole course at Kennemer dates from 1910. In 1926 Englishman Harry Colt designed Kennemer's current B and C nines, which were built shortly afterwards. Colt returned to design the A-nine in 1937, the building of which was delayed until 1985. Dutch-born architect Frank Pennink was commissioned to build the A-nine, adhering to Colt's original plan on all but one of the holes.
