Did you know?

A self made man from Toronto, John McEntee Bowman came to New York when he was seventeen. He began his career as a groom in a stable and worked his way up to eventually own the Biltmore hotel group, one of the world's most exclusive and largest hotel chains at that time. Bowman sought to create a flagship hotel and sportsman’s paradise within easy reach of Manhattan, and to this end created the Westchester Biltmore, now the Westchester Country Club. | Westchester's highly rated West course was a regular stop on the PGA Tour from 1967 to 2007, and has also hosted a US Women's Amateur Championship and a Senior Players Championship (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Westchester CC).
