Winged Foot Golf Club

Private course - for members and their invited guests only.
Winged Foot Golf Club Est. 1921

Where2Golf says:

Winged Foot Golf Club is home to two championship layouts, the world-renowned West course and and the also excellent East. In the West course you will find one of the United States' most admired tree-lined and open parkland layouts, with an outstanding array of excellently crafted and challenging holes. Golf courses don't get any better than this. However, this is a private club with its courses generally playable only by members and their guests.

Did you know?

Winged Foot Golf Club was founded in 1921, by a consortium consisting mainly of members of The New York Athletic Club. The club took its name and logo from the NYAC's logo, but the two have never had any direct affiliation. | Winged Foot has hosted many top level tournaments and national championships on both its East and West courses. The renowned West Course has staged US Opens, US Amateur Championships, a US PGA Championship and a Walker Cup. The shorter East Course has hosted US Women's Opens and the inaugural US Senior Open. Tournaments:
Walker Cup: The USA scored a convincing 15.5-10.5 win over their GB&I opponents in the 47th Walker Cup at Royal Liverpool. The USA amateurs won all but two of the Sunday singles matches.
Solheim Cup:  can Europe’s top women professional golfers fair better at Gleneagles than they did in their 2017 Solheim Cup encounter with the USA. (Sept 13-15).
Who's Who:
Brian Barnes:  one of the most colourful Scottish golfers of the modern era sadly passed away. Few others can boast two matchplay wins against Jack Nicklaus … on the same day!
Steve Stricker:  three-time Ryder Cup player and 12-time PGA Tour winner, defends his PGA Tour Champions, Sanford International title at Minnehaha CC (Sept 20-22).
