Where2Golf says:

Taupo Golf Club (Centennial course): Located next to the lakeside holiday resort of Taupo, this is a wonderfully natural and well layed-out parkland course. Although you won't see Lake Taupo from the course, the surrounding rural countryside provides some very pleasant views, as and when you can look beyond the tree-lined fairways, where tall eucalyptus and pines are interspersed with smaller trees of many varieties. On the back-nine things become more open, so much so that the final few holes occupy an almost moorland environment. On the 15th hole a fumerole (short-pipe) gives vent to some thermal activity (rising steam) - never far away in these parts. The course is relatively easy to walk; there are some pleasant undulations but never anything too onerous. Modest bunkering gives some good opportunities to bump and run your approach shots onto the greens. Try to get as close to the pin as possible - these are slowish greens to putt on.
