Where2Golf says:

Westin Mission Hills Resort (Gary Player course): Home to two highly-regarded and challenging championship golf courses, the Westin Mission Hills is one of many legendary names in the Coachella Valley. Pete Dye's acclaimed Resort course is tucked in behind the resort hotel; a mile away you will find the second of the resort's 18-hole gems, this one crafted by another golfing legend - Gary Player.

With a stunning backdrop provided by the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio mountain ranges, this challenging layout takes you on an enjoyable and modestly undulating journey around two nine-hole loops. Housing lines the way on several occasions, while a challenging mix of pot bunkers and small lakes are also much in evidence alongside the generally good-width fairways. The rifle-straight par-5 3rd, introducing the first of a plentiful array of water hazards, will banish any thoughts of this layout being an easy-going, resort-style push-over. From the par-3 8th, through the turn to the par-4 14th, water will be a constant companion, either flanking the fairways or guarding the front or sides of the greens (or just as likely, both).

There is generally less mounding and less elevation to the greens than on the Pete Dye Resort course, but clinging grassy rough will require some deft pitching work if you want to hit and stay on the often quite small greens. The back-nine is perhaps the more demanding, with seven of its nine holes guarded by rock-lined water features. Of the two "dry" holes the par-3 15th is instead surrounded by a sea of sand.

At this Stay & Play venue, the on-site accommodation is located close to the golf facilities.
