Where2Golf says:
Red Mountain Golf Club: It's not difficult to see why this exciting and relatively new layout was named Red Mountain. It's harder to imagine how such a dramatically undulating landscape, where soft red rock and dense jungle are the principal ingredients, could be transformed into a challenging, yet playable layout.
Particularly on the closing stretch the elevation changes, red rocky cliffs and dense tropical vegetation combine to create some of the most spectacular holes in Thailand. A truly breathtaking panorama awaits at the back of the 16th green. The short par-3 17th is a dramatically plunging downhiller ... hitting a postage stamp in the jungle-filled depths below has never been more fun! The subsequent downhill par-5 requires strategic placement from tee-to-green, and can easily add double-figures to an otherwise respectable scorecard.
Prior to the magnificent closing six, the rest of the course contains its fair share of undulations, rocky outcrops, wonderful risk-reward holes and a liberal array of water hazards. To avoid your immensely scenic Red Mountain round turning into a rocky horror show, the advice is simple - carefully consult your caddie on club selection, take dead aim and trust your swing.
It's not often that such a great new course is created. Rarer still that it's the architect's first 18-hole design. Hats off to Jon Morrow for crafting what the club literature describes as "the most exciting golf course in Phuket" ....... perhaps "in Asia" might also apply.

The MBK golf group boasts four championship golf courses: adjacent to each other in Bangkok are Bangkok GC and Riverdale GC, while adjacent to each other in Phuket are Red Mountain GC and Loch Palm GC.
Although you can be forgiven for thinking a vast amount of rock was blown apart and moved around to create this golf course, in fact it was former tin mine workings that was responsible for most of the "site" preparation.

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted. Perhaps the inspiration for Koksijde's new course came from a renowned Harry Colt layout that existed in the 1920s just a couple of kilometres to the west. Read more... |
The Duke Golf Club: represents the latest in a trio of private courses to arrive on the Dutch golfing scene. All prefixed by the definite article, The Dutch (2010, designer Colin Montgomerie) and The International (2012, Ian Woosnam) have now been joined by The Duke, which firmly targets a business clientele and the corporate golf market. Drentse Golfclub De Gelpenberg: as the oldest golf course in the Dutch province of Drenthe, De Gelpenberg offers a partly-wooded and partly-open heathland layout, guaranteed to test all facets of your game. It is arguably the best of the country's more northerly layouts, together with Lauswolt (50 km away to the north-west). Read more... |
Golfbaan Stippelberg: located 25 kilometres north-east of Eindhoven, this relatively new addition to championship golf in the Netherlands has fast become one of the country's "must play" courses. |
