Deeside Golf Club

4-star: generally an excellent standard golf course, well worth visiting.
   Deeside Golf Club Est. 1903

Where2Golf says:

Deeside Golf Club: Sitting on the north bank of the River Dee, in an area frequently referred to as "Royal Deeside" (see our Did You Know section below), here you will find the Haughton championship course, complemented by the 9-hole Blairs course.

At times tree-lined, at others more open, the Haughton layout, which kicks-off with a downhill par-3, will certainly put your all-round game through its paces. You'll find plenty of good quality bunkering keeping you on your toes, while water ditches cross in front of the greens or cut through the fairways on half the holes.

On this out-and-back layout several holes get you down alongside the river, before quickly turning you back inland again. The par-4 11th and par-3 12th should be the pick of the "river holes," although there's plenty of vegetation on the leftside of these holes to obscure your view of the free-running River Dee.

Did you know?

Deeside Golf Club is located alongside the River Dee, which rises deep in the Cairngorm Mountains and flows through southern Aberdeenshire and into the North Sea at Aberdeen. The term "Royal Deeside" is frequently used to describe the lands, forests, castles, towns and villages, fishing and hunting areas, and other various attractions that lie a few miles either side of the river. Although "Royal Deeside" was originally used to describe that part of the river flowing from Braemar to Banchory, it is also frequently applied to areas that lie downriver from Banchory, all the way east to Aberdeen itself.
