Where2Golf says:

Tanah Merah Country Club (Tampines course): Here at Tanah Merah, you will find two of Singapore's finest championship golf layouts, the Tampines course and the Garden course (formerly for members and their guests only). Both are classy, excellently presented parkland layouts, where many tree-lined fairways, rocky-fronted water hazards and strategic bunkering combine to create a golfing oasis - par excellence.

Originally referred to as the "West course", the Tampines was created from essentially flat terrain, with earthmounding and a fine array of trees giving each hole its own individual character. Where the tree-line gets a bit tight, the need for accurate driving is added to an ever-present demand for good course management.

It is on the more open back-nine of the Tampines that attractive small lakes come menacingly into play. The closing four holes of the inward nine will severely test your nerve near water, with the 16th an intimidating island-green par-3.

Like its near neighbour, Laguna National G&CC, Tanah Merah is located in relatively close proximity to Singapore's Changi Airport. Some noise intrusions are perhaps inevitable, but should not detract from the enjoyment of playing on Tanah Merah's excellent courses.
