Where2Golf says:

Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Resort: Few courses in the world come close to the clifftop splendour of Pinnacle Point. Perhaps Old Head in Ireland, Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand and Pebble Beach in California are its closest relatives. For lovers of full-on, dramatic seaside golf, this layout delivers high octane thrills and magnificent ocean views from start to finish.

Expansively laid out on terrain that slopes away from the sea, each of the spectacularly designed holes provides stunning views onto the Indian Ocean. Many are played alongside and sometimes towards imposing cliffs that rise from the sea. The closing stretch on both the front and back-nines contains a succession of hugely memorable "signature" holes; many clubs would pay a king's ransom just to have one such hole in their layout. On several occasions you will be required to drive across wide ravines that cut in from the sea, with the lichen covered cliffs awaiting anything hit too short or right.

The four par-3's are the most scenic collection of short holes you'll play anywhere - and that includes the likes of Pebble Beach and Cypress Point. The par-5s will test your long game to the full, and around the excellent greens all manner of short game challenges await - not least in the depth and quantity of the bunkering.

This Matkovich masterpiece will challenge and enthral in equal measure - while the dramatic views are guaranteed to keep your camera fully employed. Although real estate is developing on some parts of the Pinnacle Point estate, it is still of sufficient low-density not to interfere with your golf or the magnificence of the layout.

At this Stay & Play venue, the on-site accommodation is located close to the golf facilities.

Did you know?

Look out at the 14th tee box for a small colony of small, brown, rabbit-sized animals that live on the rocks sloping down to the ocean. Called Rock or Cape Hyrax (or Dassies in South Africa), they are native to Africa and the Middle East. Perhaps the best-known colony of dassies lives on Table Top Mountain in Cape Town, and can always be spotted around the tourist areas, where food might be found. From many vantage points on the course it is not uncommon to see dolphins and whales just offshore in the Ocean >> As is usually the case, the different sets of tees provide golfers with a course of different lengths. Here at Pinnacle Point these courses are given their own name : Ocean course (Pro's tees); Rocky Cliffs course (Championship tees); Caves course (Club tees); Beach course (Ladies Ch'ship/Mens Snrs tees); Fynbos course (Ladies Club tees).
