The Golf Guide to the Top Courses
Where2Golf says:

Alcaidesa Links Resort (Links course): Here on the Mediterranean's shoreline, you will discover one of Andalucía's gems. As its name suggests, the very popular Links Course at Alcaidesa, is somewhat different from the other excellent championship golf courses found at this western end of the Costa del Sol. Rather than a tree-lined parkland course, here is a wonderfully open, wind-exposed links-style course, with sea views aplenty and a fabulous panorama stretching away to the rock of Gibraltar. On a clear day it is even possible to see across to another continent; the Moroccan coastline is located just 35 km to the south, across the Straits of Gibraltar. The layout's undulating terrain, quite seriously undulating at times, is home to good-width fairways, which will help on windier days. Beyond the often penal ball-grabbing rough, is territory that's best avoided. Few balls are ever recovered from the dense bushes and thickets that often await seriously errant shots. The large amount of housing development in the area has not unduly impacted on the naturalness of the golf course, although the short par-4 17th hole certainly suffers from a building project that encroaches too closely on proceedings. Alcaidesa's Links course has now been joined by a second layout, the slightly more inland Heathland Course (see our separate entry).
