Where2Golf says:

Real (Royal) Club de Golf El Prat: Like its sister course, the Rosa (or any other colour combination of El Prat's five 9-hole loops), the Amarillo course is a fabulous layout and a joy to play, notwithstanding its manifest difficulties and challenges - this afterall is a layout designed for top level championship golf (but playable from any one of seven sets of tees). Apart from at the tree-lined par-5 16th, Greg Norman has opted for an open-terrain, links-style layout, embracing every manner of bunkering and copious amounts of it. The ground has been left intentionally "rough" and uncultivated between the fairways, although someone no doubt tends to the areas of wheat, growing in the larger "waste areas". Excellent greens and run-off areas around the greens are consistent with the Rosa course, and its here where your score can be made or broken. There is not as much to look at scenically (as on the Rosa) - mainly rural landscapes, a few pylons, a splendid castle-topped mountain and the Hospital de Terrassa, but there is plenty to hold your undivided attention on the course, especially from the golfing standpoint.

Did you know?

The club was originally established in 1912 as the Club de Golf Pedralbes. Several years later it received its Royal prefix from King Alfonso XIII. In 1955 the club moved to a new location between El Prat de Llobregat and the sea, and became known as Real (Royal) Club de Golf El Prat ("RCGP"). The golf course and surrounding area were eventually consumed by the ever-expanding Barcelona airport, forcing the club to move again in 2001. A runway expansion buried many of the fairways. | With 45-holes at El Prat's current home, the five nine-hole loops create many 18-hole combinations - the Rosa (Rose) course and Amarillo (Yellow) course are the most commonly played combinations. However, Blue, Brown, Green and Orange courses can also be arranged as the need arises.
