Where2Golf says:

The San Roque Club (Old course): The opening hole, a good-length par-4 with out of bounds on both sides, signals some of the challenges that lie in wait on San Roque's testing and always interesting Old Course. You will also quickly get a good view of the luxury villas that border some of the course, the undulation of many of the holes, the tightness of the fairways and the sheer golfing spectacle of this excellent layout. Further spice is added with the occasional use of water hazards, especially on the back-nine, while good quality bunkering is present throughout. The middle part of the back-nine loops around a small hill, giving you a respite from the water hazards, much needed before you tackle the par-5 17th and then the signature hole, the very demanding par-4 18th (where many a round has come to a high-scoring and watery end). Usually presented in tip-top condition, this is a course to rival some of the best in Europe and if that wasn't enough, it has now been joined by San Roque's equally impressive New Course. A fabulous 36-hole venue providing one of the best golfing days out in Spain.

Did you know?

Both the Old and New courses at San Roque have hosted the Spanish Open Championship (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >San Roque). As the home of the European Tour qualifying school between 1993 and 2003, many top professionals have felt the joy or pain of San Roque's Old course. The likes of Padraig Harrington, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Justin Rose all won their tour card here. | San Roque was formerly the home of the Domecq sherry family. The magnificent Domecq mansion is now the centrepiece of the club.
