Fanning out from Pinehurst Resort's impressive clubhouse, are five of the Resort's nine 18-hole golf courses: No.1 course (par-70, 6089 yds from back tees); No.2 course (U.S. Open venue, par-72, 7588 yds); No.3 course (par-70, 5722 yds); No.4 course (par-72, 7117 yds); No. 5 course (par-72, 6848 yds). Also adjacent to the clubhouse is the 9-hole Cradle course (par-27, 789 yds, designed by Gil Hanse).
Located within two miles of this central clubhouse and separate from each other, are the remaining four Pinehurst Resort courses: No.6 course (par-72, 7053 yds); No.7 course (par-72, 7216 yds); No.8 course (Centennial, par-72, 7092 yds) and No.9 course (formerly National GC, par-72, 7118 yds).

From the Pinehurst traffic circle (intersection of the US-15-501, 211 and 2) follow the 211 North (Yadkin Road) direction Candor. After 1.4 miles at traffic lights turn right into Murdocksville Road. After o.9 miles turn right into Pinehurst No.8 (Centennial). Follow road to clubhouse.

Pinehurst No.8 (The Centennial) Golf Course: In an area that abounds with golfing riches, Pinehurst No.8 (The Centennial) stands out as one of the best. Built in 1995 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Pinehurst Resort, the layout is a fitting tribute to this most iconic of American golf destinations.
True to Pinehurst's origins in the mid-1890s, this wonderfully natural and visually arresting layout, occupies an unspoilt area of pine-forested sandhills. Here Tom Fazio took full advantage of the 420 acres of rolling terrain and natural wetlands to craft a fabulous big-dimension golf course.
Tall, mature pines majestically line the fairways as they journey towards large sloping greens. The tree-line is thankfully never too dense, which helps ball-finding from wayward shots, and provides the opportunity to look through to other sections of this wonderfully undulating course.
There are no residential properties around to distract your attention as you drive towards some of the tighter tree-lined fairways, or try to stay out of sprawling sandy waste areas and high-lipped fairway and greenside bunkers. A cluster of small lakes and wetland areas also get into the act from the excellent par-3 13th, through to the long uphill par-4 18th.
The drive over a corner of the lake at the par-4 14th (you decide how much of the lake to cut) provides one of many dramatic encounters on The Centennial. A stunning layout, always excellently maintained and consistently rated as one of the best courses in North Carolina.

The No.8 course at Pinehurst, commissioned in 1995 (and opened in 1996) celebrates the founding of the Pinehurst Resort 100 years earlier, in 1895. This Centennial course occupies land that for many years belonged to the Pinehurst Gun Club, where Annie Oakley gave shooting lessons and exhibitions. The Centennial has been named an Audubon Signature Cooperative Sanctuary for sound land management practices and natural resource conservation.

Solheim Cup: also in September, also in southern Europe, the 18th Solheim Cup will be contested at Finca Cortesin on the Costa del Sol, with Europe defending after their surprise win in Toledo, Inverness Club (Ohio) in 2021 (Sept 22-24).
