Payne Stewart Golf Club

4-star: generally an excellent standard golf course, well worth visiting.

Where2Golf says:

Payne Stewart Golf Club is home to a well-rated and pleasantly testing golf course. This tree-lined parkland layout should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. Plenty of golfing challenge, a well-crafted design and usually good upkeep all contribute to the appeal of this course. One to include on your play list if you are in the area.

Payne Stewart Golf Club is managed by Troon Golf, a world leader in upscale golf course management. | Both the course and clubhouse here pay tribute to professional golfer Payne Stewart, who came from Springfield, Missouri, about an hour's drive to the north. Stewart, a two-time U.S. Open champion and highly respected player, was tragically killed in a plane accident in 1999, the same year he won the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
