ChampionsGate Golf Club (National course): The wonderfully natural setting at ChampionsGate is home to two great golf courses - the International and National. In addition the location boasts a towering, modern resort hotel and a marvellously varied range of birdlife (including a resident bald eagle).
In contrast to the traditional links-styling of the neighbouring International course, the out-and-back National layout draws its themes from more Floridian environments. The start is relatively open and links-like, but quickly turns into a more traditional central Florida course, featuring woodland, marshland, plenty of water and a colourful bordering of citrus groves.
The overall presentation and green-keeping here is a match for many of Orlando's better known trophy courses, with pristine fairways getting you from the well-groomed tee-boxes to the often, lightly bunker defended greens.
Pick of the holes: the par-3 14th is an absolute gem. Tucked away in a forested setting, it demands a full carry over tree-lined marshland. Although not quite the exacting test of the International course, this is still a fine course that lays down an excellent golfing challenge.
