Where2Golf says:

At the Wintergreen Resort in the famous Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, you'll find two very contrasting 18-hole championship courses. Accessible to resort guests, the Devils Knob layout sits atop a mountain of that name. 12 miles down the mountain is the year-round Stoney Creek course, which boasts 27-holes and can be played on a daily fee basis.

Sitting down in the Rockfish River valley, at much lower altitude than its lofty companion, the Stoney Creek layout comprises the pleasantly testing Shamokin, Tuckahoe and Monocan nines. At times tree-lined, at others more open, this parkland course should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy.

As the layout rolls through the Virginia countryside in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the three nine-hole loops provide a mix of scenery and terrain. With elevation changes, contoured greens and occasional side hill lies, this relatively early Rees Jones design brings the natural elements of the landscape into play: meandering streams, threatening ponds, hardwood forests and pristine wetlands. Holes like the long par-5 9th (Tuckahoe-nine) is one of many holes that play towards a beautiful mountain backdrop.
