Playing in his eighth PGA Tour event, Grillo joined a growing band of players to win their first start as a full member of the Tour. At the time, the others were: Marty Fleckman (1967), Ben Crenshaw (1973), Jim Benepe (1988), Robert Gamez (1990), Garrett Willis (2001), Henrik Stenson (2007) and Russell Henley (2013).
