Growing up in what was then Rhodesia, the ever-amiable Johnstone developed a phenomenal short game, that would serve him well on the Sunshine and European Tours. He turned professional in 1979, and subsequently won six times on the European Tour and 17 times on the Sunshine Tour. Only his contemporary Mark McNulty has recorded more wins on the Sunshine Tour as a Zimbabwean.
After battling multiple sclerosis with a revolutionary drug treatment, Johnstone launched into a career on the European Senior Tour when he turned 50 in 2006. He also became a key contributor on Sky Sports golf coverage. He is much respected for his "David Attenborough-like" knowledge of the natural world around him - whether listening to bird calls in Europe or musing on the dung disposal capabilities of beetles in his native southern Africa.

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
