Did you know?

Ghezzi turned pro in 1932 and won his first tournament at Los Angeles CC in 1935, defeating John Revolta in an 18-hole playoff to win the Los Angeles Open. Ghezzi went on to win a total of 11 times on the PGA Tour. His victories included one major title: the 1941 PGA Championship, in which he defeated Byron Nelson in 38 holes in the final match. Ghezzi, was selected to play on three Ryder Cup teams (1939, 1941, and 1943), but each was cancelled due to the Second World War.

Solheim Cup: also in September, also in southern Europe, the 18th Solheim Cup will be contested at Finca Cortesin on the Costa del Sol, with Europe defending after their surprise win in Toledo, Inverness Club (Ohio) in 2021 (Sept 22-24).
