MAJORS (13): US Women's Open (1958, '59, '61, '64); Women's PGA Ch'ship (1958, '60, '61, '63); Titleholders Ch'ship (1961, '62); Western Open (1962, '63, '66); major wins included a "career slam" of four different majors. Total professional wins (90), including LPGA Tour (82). LPGA Tour leading money winner (1961, '62, '63, '64). World Golf Hall of Fame (inducted in 1964).

Did you know?

At the end of a distinguished amateur career, Wright left Stanford University after just a year to concentrate on golf, turning professional in 1954 at the age of 19. From the mid-50s until the early-70s there was a confidence and invincibility about her play, which brought her a total of 82 LPGA wins, including 13 major championships. In several years, especially in the early '60s, she recorded 10 or more Tour wins in a season.

Mickey Wright was certainly the greatest woman professional golfer of the late 50s and early 60s ... many would say "of all time." In a similar way and at a similar time, she did for the LPGA Tour what Arnold Palmer was doing for the men's game. It was said that sponsors would threaten to cancel their tournaments if she didn't play. She remains the only player in LPGA history to hold all the major championship titles at the same time.
