After a glittering amateur career, in which Nick Faldo played a key mentoring role, Dougherty turned professional the week after playing in the victorious GB&I Walker Cup team in 2001. His playing career on the European Tour has been eventful, with some excellent wins interspersed with some lean years and loss of form.
