Where2Golf says:
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club: With the tranquillity of the impressively wide Dubai Creek bordering one side of the course, and the hustle and bustle of Deira on the other, this well-renowned golf course provides a challenging, scenic and varied golf experience.
The overall feel of the course is generally quite open with palms and other small trees dotted around, though never too densely. Flanking the gently rolling fairways are some sizeable (and well-groomed) sandy waste areas as well as occasional water hazards, which also come dangerously into play around half the greens. The island-green par-5 13th is the most water protected hole. Provided the water hazards are avoided, any wayward drives are likely to be findable and playable, with limited amounts of penal rough beyond the "short stuff".
The wonderful short par-4 17th and longer par-4 18th get you right alongside the Creek; the 6th actually puts you in it - on a solidly built teeing platform. On the greens there is never a dull moment at Dubai Creek, given their generous proportions and equally generous slopes.
Although the course has its urban and residential moments, with roads, housing and offices getting into the picture, it's more likely you'll choose the spectacular "dhow-sailed" clubhouse as the backdrop for your prized photos. With its iconic clubhouse, strong course layout and usually immaculate conditioning, Dubai Creek is a "must play" course for golf visitors to the UAE.

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted. Perhaps the inspiration for Koksijde's new course came from a renowned Harry Colt layout that existed in the 1920s just a couple of kilometres to the west. Read more... |
The Duke Golf Club: represents the latest in a trio of private courses to arrive on the Dutch golfing scene. All prefixed by the definite article, The Dutch (2010, designer Colin Montgomerie) and The International (2012, Ian Woosnam) have now been joined by The Duke, which firmly targets a business clientele and the corporate golf market. It is arguably the best of the country's more northerly layouts, together with Lauswolt (50 km away to the north-west). Read more... |
