9-hole par-27 Le Verger course (1950 mtrs).
30 km SE of Brussels
Leave the southernmost section of the Brussels Ring at exit 24, and follow the N27 direction Nivelles/Lillois. After 2.4 km at traffic lights in the centre of Lillois-Witterzee turn left into Rue Raymond Lebleux direction Genappe/Golf d'Hulencourt. After 1.9 km turn left into Hulencourt golf.
Golf Club d'Hulencourt: With considerable ongoing investment by the owners, Hulencourt's championship Vallon course has realised its potential as the best of the "newer" parkland courses in Belgium (although The National, an "inland links", now arguably lays down Belgium's best inland challenge). Situated in an area of undulating rural farmland, which affords limited protection from the wind, the "must play" Vallon, is accompanied by the club's 9-hole Pitch-and-Putt Verger course.
Hulencourt offers 18 strong golf holes laid out on relatively open terrain, with much attention paid to creating a variety of golfing challenges. Water, OB and substantive shallow bunkering provide the principal hazards to avoid, while good-width fairways and well-maintained greens are the surfaces you'll want to hit. Several holes skilfully embrace a line of small lakes that run through the lower part of the course, with the two front-nine par-3s making good use of these ponds.
Hulencourt is maturing well, under the watchful eye of owner Patrick Solvay (of the Solvay chemical company family). Careful tree management has created good definition to the holes, as well as scenically enhancing the gently undulating landscape. Definitely one of Belgium's golfing gems, even if the wind is doing its bit to blow you off course and thoroughly test your game.

The Golf Club at Hulencourt is built on a historic estate, with the manor-farm buildings dating from the 17th-century. The Club's motto, "nihil melius quam bona vita", aptly translates as "there's nothing better than the good life", which Hulencourt clearly seeks to deliver to its members and visiting guests.

The Grand Hotel Waterloo is located within easy reach of the centre of Waterloo and just 3 km from one of Europe's most famous battlefields (well worth a visit !). The hotel's main restaurant, La Sucrerie (sugar factory), is particularly noteworthy, not least from an architectural standpoint. Many top-quality courses in the area will keep golfers fully occupied.

European Senior (Staysure) Tour: the Europe-based over-50s tour for men has taken the reluctant step of cancelling the entire 2020 season, based on the additional coronavirus risk associated with the age demographic of the players.
Miguel Ángel Jiménez: recorded his 707th European Tour start at the English Open in July, surpassing Sam Torrance’s record for the most appearances on the Tour.
Brooks Koepka: the former world No.1 defends his title at the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational at TPC Southwind in Memphis (July 30-Aug 2).
Traigh Golf Course (pronounced "try", and meaning "beach" in Gaelic): You'll find this nine-hole seaside gem on the scenic coast road (as opposed to the more inland and quicker A830) between Arisaig and Morar. Although not on the well-beaten path of Scotland's "trophy" courses, if you are passing through this area, it's a must play.
Cullen Links Golf Club: "immensely scenic", "quirky as golf can get", "short!", "hugely enjoyable" ... Cullen Links attracts as wide a variety of comments as it lays down golfing challenges. Shoehorned into this 4,600 yard treasure trove are ten par-3s, seven par-4s and a good-length par-5. Here you'll find all the seaside scenery a golfer could ask for, and a lot more besides.
