10 km W of Kavarna / 65 km NE of Varna.
Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort: situated directly beside the Black Sea, on its clifftop perch, you'll find the spectacular Gary Player-designed Thracian Cliffs golf course. A few kilometres to the west, set back from and high above the sea, you'll find another Gary Player design, BlackSeaRama, and next to it, the Ian Woosnam course at Lighthouse resort. All three are exemplars of Bulgaria's relatively new attraction to resort golf.
Gary Player's Signature Course forms the core of the Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort. The layout covers 85 hectares of a spectacular clifftop environment. Sea views are in abundance with every hole offering a stunning view of the cliff-side and the Black Sea coast. On some holes the cliffs become integral to the hole itself, as at the very testing par-4 7th.
Pick of the holes: the case could be made that every hole here is a signature hole. But the par-3 6th is surely the one that everyone remembers. The teeing ground sits on top of the cliff with the green set some 40 meters below, cut into a cliffside plateau and surrounded by the lapping waves of the Black Sea. From the back tees, the hole plays a hair-raising 210 metres.

The term Thracian refers to the people and culture of Thrace, a former Roman Province that included parts of Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. The ancient Thracian people were described by the Romans as blue-eyed and red-haired. Tribal and largely disunited, the Thracians had a reputation as a warlike and barbarian people ... qualities that gave them favour as mercenaries among Greeks and Romans. The Thracian language appears to have been used until around the fifth century AD.
On the northern Bulgarian coast between the towns of Balchik and Kavarna, and facing out onto the Black Sea, three top quality Stay&Play golf resorts have recently come to the fore. The Ian Woosnam-designed course at Lighthouse Resort blazed the trail in 2008, quickly followed by two Gary Player designs, one at BlackSeaRama (2009), the other at Thracian Cliffs (2011).
Bulgaria's No.1 course (Golf Digest, 2022).

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
