From the centre of Solvang, head south on Alisal Road. After 2 miles (you'll pass Alisal's River Course en route) turn left into Alisal's Ranch Course.
Alisal (Ranch)
Ranch Course at the Alisal: An ancient seasonal creek, which runs into the Santa Ynez River just a mile to the north, was responsible for carving the picturesque valley that is home to Alisal's Ranch course.
Now forming a scenic and frequently threatening water hazard, Alisal Creek winds its way through this tree-lined, parkland layout. Pleasant views onto the valley's partly-wooded slopes can be enjoyed along the way. Designed over 50 years ago by Billy Bell Jr, most of the holes following the north-south line of the creek, and are mainly arranged on either side of it, or occasionally dissected by it.
The course is typical of its era; a time when shot-making rather than raw power was uppermost in the architect's mind. No surprise then, that the Ranch course comprises tight and testing tee-shots, played along picturesque avenues of venerable oaks, sycamores and eucalyptus. The two nine-hole loops are played on either side of the clubhouse, with the quiet splendour of the woodland only broken by the chattering of many species of birds.
Much of the layout is relatively flat, although occasionally, as at the parallel par-4 15th and 16th holes, a small incline has to be climbed and descended as you make a slight detour from the valley floor. Each nine starts with a par-5, and finishes with a par-3, both the 9th and 18th playing over 200 yards from the tips ( ... perhaps a little raw power will come in handy!).

No outside visitor play available on the Ranch course, but Alisal's River course is open for public play. Must book in advance.

Alisal (meaning "place of the sycamores") is a horse lover's paradise with numerous trails through 10,000 acres of valleys and rolling hills. Group, private and children's rides are all available through the Alisal Resort. The Alisal's spring-fed 100-acre private lake offers excellent boating and fishing. Private lessons and guide trips can be arranged.
The nearby Danish town of Solvang is a popular tourist destination. Founded in 1911 by a group of Danish educators, the architecture of many of the buildings follows traditional Danish style, while the city is home to bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen, and one featuring the bust of the renowned Danish fable writer, Hans Christian Andersen.

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
