The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club

5-PLUS: In the world’s elite - has few peers; one of our top-rated 5s!

Est. 1925

The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club offers one of the most spectacular inland settings in which to play golf. On all sides you are surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. Mt Signal, Mt Pyramid, Mt Cleopatra, the Whistlers and the Tekkeras are among the majestic mountains and mountain ranges that encircle the course.

Stanley Thompson's wonderful design ensures each hole is played towards a different mountain vista, while at the same time your game is thoroughly but fairly tested. If you are joined by one of Jasper Park Lodge's assistant pros, you can enjoy a guided tour of the scenery. Along the way they'll point out Old Man Peak, a craggy summit that resembles an old Indian chief looking skywards from his reclining pose.

The partly-open, partly tree-lined layout offers good width fairways, elevated tee boxes and pleasantly undulating terrain. On several occasions the bunkering mimics the peaks and valleys of the stunning mountain backdrop. The closing stretch brings you alongside the ice-blue waters of Lac Beauvert, with the par-4 14th demanding a carry across a corner of the lake, and the pudding-bowl par-3 15th and par-4 16th also hugging the lake's shoreline.

You can thank a gang of 200 men and 50 pairs of horses for clearing the land and making this golf course possible. They, and Stanley Thompson, left behind a captivating layout that fits perfectly within its natural environment. Although the greens here can be a bit slow and overall conditioning is not always "Country Club perfect", nothing can detract from enjoying the rugged majesty of this national treasure. One of the world's great golfing experiences.

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
