GreenTee Country Club Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club is home to the 18-hole Sky course (formerly Country Club course), and a nine-hole executive course (the Fine course). The championship layout ranks with some of the best in the Metro Vancouver area.
Set high above the city of Coquitlam, on Eagle Mountain, here you'll discover a spectacular mountain setting, just 45 minutes drive from downtown Vancouver. Granite rock faces, plenty of elevation changes and rugged ravines are all part of Michael Hurdzan's absorbing design.
This tree-lined parkland layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Golf season is May thru mid-Oct.
Non-metal spike facility. Golf carts compulsory; carts are fitted with GPS.
Excellent (including a two-tier driving range). Located 2 minutes drive from clubhouse.
The nearby suburban city of Coquitlam was settled by Europeans in the 1860s, after many thousands of years as an area inhabitated by the Coast Salish people. The city's name came from the "Kwikwetlem" First Nation, and translates as "Red Fish up the River", a unique run of sockeye salmon that once thrived in the local rivers ( ... the Coquitlam River flows into the Fraser River just south of Coquitlam).
Presidents Cup: Geoff Ogilvy’s International Team take on Brandt Snedeker’s USA Team at the revered Medinah Country Club, near Chicago. The Internationals are trying to halt a run of 11 consecutive American wins. (Sept 24-27).
French Open: Continental Europe’s oldest national championship, dating from 1906, is once again staged on the Albatros Course at Le Golf National, near Paris. Defending champion is America’s Michael Kim. (Sept 24-27).
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
