Lan Hai Intl (Yangtze Dunes)
Lan Hai International Golf Club: Laid out on the alluvial island of Chongming at the mouth of the Yangtze River, this internationally renowned Shanghai club is home to two championship layouts ... the Woodlands course and the more famous "Yangtze Dunes".
As the name implies, Yangtze Dunes has all the characteristics of a traditional links-style course. Laid out on open terrain, most holes are defined by large sprawling sandy waste areas, rough-edged bunkers, and only a limited amount of water in play. There are no beachside holes as such, but plenty of opportunities to gaze out onto the final stretch of one of the world's mightiest rivers.
Lan Hai's Woodlands course, in sharp contrast to the Links, is a more classical parkland layout ... with water in play on all but a very few holes. Good size ponds and small lakes sidle up alongside most of the holes, with an island-green par-4 in the mix, and many others intimidatingly flanked by the water.
Private club - guests may only play if hosted by a member.
It is far from any old river that flows past Lan Hai International Golf Club. This is the mighty Yangtze, at almost 4,000 miles the longest river in Asia and third longest in the world (behind the Nile and the Amazon). It's the world's longest river to flow entirely within one country, and has a drainage basin that accounts for one-fifth the land area of China, home to nearly a third of the country's population.
The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
