Mission Hills Dongguan (Leadbetter)
The Leadbetter course at Mission Hills Golf Club, Dongguan is a well-rated and always popular layout. This tree-lined parkland course represents David Leadbetter's first foray into golf course design. The world-renowned instructor devised a layout meant to challenge players without creating too great an intimidation factor.
Generous fairways, short par-4s and drives from elevated tees are here in abundance. The layout also features large, sand-flashed bunkers and fairways that while wide, rarely provide a perfectly level lie. Plenty of golfing challenge, a well-crafted design and usually good upkeep all contribute to the appeal of this course.
The Mission Hills luxury golf resort at Dongguan is home to five championship golf courses (Olazabal, Annika, Rose-Poulter, Norman and Leadbetter), with two more (Faldo and Pete Dye) located just 5 km away at the Mid-Valley clubhouse. Another five Mission Hills courses (World Cup, Vijay, Els, Ozaki and Zhang) are located 15 km away in Shenzhen. The Olazabal and Norman courses are typically the highest rated of the courses at Dongguan, but all five are well crafted and pleasantly undulating championship layouts.
