4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

The Jockey Club - Kau Sai Chau (East course): The Hong Kong Jockey Club operates the only three public golf courses (North, South and East) in Hong Kong. Located on spectacular Kau Sai Chau island, the Club funded this development to meet the growing demand for golf in the region in the mid-1990s. Each of the three courses radiates out from the same clubhouse. Each meanders onto undulating terrain, giving wonderful ocean vistas with soul-stirring mountain backdrops.

The highly regarded North course is a walking-only course, designed by Gary Player for top competitions and championships ... although by modern day standards it is not overly long at just over 6,700 yards from the tips. True to its name the course occupies the northern part of Kau Sai Chau island. Laid out in two nine-hole loops, both nines brings you alongside a good-sized lake, and both nines each have a testing good length par-3 played over a sea inlet.

Also in the Jockey Club's Kau Sai Chau stable is the top-rated East course, generally regarded as the most scenic of the three. The shorter South course, on which you can walk or drive, is another Gary Player design. It is the easiest going of the three layouts.

Did you know?

The three Jockey Club golf courses occupy the northern half of Hong Kong's sixth largest island, Kau Sai Chau. The rest of the island is largely uninhabited, except for Kau Sai Village, a small fishing hamlet of about ten houses located at the island's southern most tip. Beyond the island's north shore lies the spectacular bay of Port Shelter.

British Women’s Open: the year’s final women’s major championship heads for mighty Muirfield in East Lothian, Scotland, with Anna Nordqvist defending (Aug 4-7).

Who's Who

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.

Golf Son Gual

Golf Son Gual is home to a course frequently rated the No.1 layout on the holiday island of Mallorca. Opening for play in 2007, this Thomas Himmel design combines the openness of a links-style layout with the stylish bunkering and not infrequent water hazards more typically associated with parkland courses.

Son Gual is located just a few kilometres from Palma (Mallorca). Palma's Old City shows clear influences from the city's Arab past.
