From Newcastle-upon-Tyne follow the A69 (west) direction Hexham/Corbridge. At the Styford roundabout, where the A69 meets the A68 (south), turn left and follow the A68 (south) direction Darlington. After 6 mi, at the Kiln Pitt Hill intersection, turn right direction Slaley Hall. After 5.8 mi Slaley Hall is on your left.
Slaley Hall (Hunting)
Slaley Hall (Hunting course): Stately Slaley Hall (now a much extended Stay&Play resort hotel) is located just six miles southeast of the Northumbrian market town of Hexham. Here you'll find two excellent and contrasting parkland golf courses.
Played over gently undulating terrain, the generally higher-rated Hunting course occupies a mainly woodland setting, with a lovely mix of mature pines, birch and rhododendrons skirting the fairways. From the outset your game will be tested with dog-legging holes and others where water hazards threaten. Abundant space for wayward drives is often in short supply, with many tightish holes requiring accuracy from the tee and good course management thereafter.
The Hunting's large greens, thickish rough and excellent variety of holes will challenge your game and hold your attention from opening drive to final putt. Add in the tranquillity and naturalness of the surrounding Northumberland moorland and forest, and a real golfing treat awaits any visitor to Slaley Hall. Pleasant rural countryside views are enjoyed along the way, while both nine-hole loops close with tough and memorable par-4s.
Pick of the holes: the signature par-4 9th, with a stream winding through the hole, is known as the "Sleeping Giant" for good reason. A wonderful closing stretch of holes starts with a deceptive uphill par-3 at 14, and continues around a moorland loop of holes to the challenging par-4 18th. Before your grandstand finish in front of the original manor house, you'll need to cross a plunging ravine on your second shot.

The golf course takes its name from Charles Samuel Hunting, the original owner of Slaley Hall. The castle-style building that was the Hunting's family home in the early 1900s, has been expanded considerably to create the Slaley Hall hotel. The 18th green on the Hunting course provides one of the best vantage points from which to appreciate the fine structure of the original Hall.

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
