Queenstown
The Kelvin Heights course at Queenstown Golf Club, is one of the most scenic you'll ever play. Even the view from the car park is awesome. The course sits on a peninsula with the clear waters of Lake Wakatipu all around, and from every hole you feel you can reach out and touch the craggy mountain peaks that surround the lake.
Spectacular views aside, the course itself is a good one. Constantly undulating and therefore a tad hilly, this very good design accommodates a few rocky outcrops and many tall pines. Not surprisingly, a few blind drives are needed to what often feel like tight fairways, so a long-iron or 3-wood may come in handy here, versus belting away with a driver.
Of the many good holes that make up this layout, the plunging par-5 3rd is something akin to a golfing bungy jump (see Did You Know section below) and the par-4 5th wrapped around the lake's shore is fabulous. Unique, memorable and magnificent - make sure you play it!
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Worth booking ahead to ensure tee-time availability, especially at weekends.
Walking permitted at all times. Golf carts available for hire.

Fitting in with the wonderful mountain scenery, even the clubhouse has a swiss chalet look to it. This area is noted for all manner of outdoor pursuits - especially skiing in the winter (in The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and other snowfields), and water sports of every description in the summer. Just north-east of Queenstown on Hwy 6 is the original site of the Kiwi initiated craze of bungy-jumping. The site is still going strong if you fancy a jump!

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
