Westmount Golf & Country Club: located in the leafy suburbs of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, the Club boasts a beautifully maintained parkland golf course. Consistently ranked amongst the top courses in Canada, and designed by the great Stanley Thompson, this handsome and challenging tree-lined layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging golf holes.
Legend has it that Thompson and his apprentice Robbie Robinson spent from dawn 'til dusk walking the intended site for Westmount. Following dinner, and armed only with some pencils, a piece of brown butcher's paper and a 40-ounce bottle of Scotch whisky, Thompson worked through the night. By morning he had finished the course design ... and the bottle of whisky.
The essence of Westmount's par-73 risk-reward layout, as sketched out by the "Toronto Terror", has changed little over the years. Thompson's strategically-located stylish bunkering is found in abundance around the excellent greens and along the elegantly tree-lined fairways.
Pick of the holes: one of Westmount's most picturesque holes is the par-4 14th. Here the narrowing fairway drops down to a well-bunkered green, which enjoys a beautiful backdrop of tall mature trees. A real picture at any time of year, but most especially in the fall.
Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

Legendary Canadian golf course designer Stanley Thompson routinely has six of his layouts listed among the best golf courses in Canada. Featuring at the top end of these rankings are his layouts at: Jasper Park Lodge (1925), Banff Springs (1928), St George's (1928), Westmount G&CC (1931), Capilano (1937) and Cape Breton Highlands (1939).

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
