18 holes. Tree-lined & open parkland. Relatively flat terrain - easy to walk.
Open rural countryside.
New course designed by Philip Spogárd (2012). Old course designed by Jan Sederholm (1970s).
Above distances are for the New course. Also at Himmerland is the 18-hole Old course (par-68; 5377 m from back tees; course rating 68.3) and the 9-hole Academy course (par-27; 810 m).
12 km NW of Aars / 47 km SW of Aalborg.
Himmerland Golf Klub at the HimmerLand Resort, is home to two championship golf courses, as well as a nine-hole Academy course. The longer New course (formerly known as the BackTee course) was designed with top level tournament play in mind. It arrived on the scene in 2012, joining the original Old course (formerly Garia course), a Jan Sederholm design that dates back to the 1970s.
The relatively open and undulating New course lays down a thorough test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. There's a linksy openness to much of the course, but beware the ball-grabbing rough and occasional water hazards beyond the good-width fairways. There are a few more trees to guide you along on the shorter and often tighter Old course.
Pick of the holes: the short par-3 16th (and attendant "Himmerland Hill"), is a clear crowd favourite when the European Tour comes to town. The hole forms a natural grandstand, and is known for the many holes-in-one it has provided over the years.

Himmerland has hosted numerous top level tournaments including the Made in Himmerland (formerly Made in Denmark) event, which has become a regular stop on the men's European Tour (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Himmerland).
Denmark: 6th best course in Denmark (Golf Digest, 2022).
