Crowborough Beacon Golf Club

4-star: generally an excellent standard golf course, well worth visiting.
Crowborough Beacon Golf Club Est. 1895

Where2Golf says:

Crowborough Beacon Golf Club: Glorious views onto the beautiful South Downs are in plentiful supply on this excellent, mature heathland golf course, which sits at the highest point in Sussex (nearly 800ft above sea level). Although over 100 years old, the course is still recognised as one of the best ‘hidden’ gems in the south of England, with more and more golfers discovering its delights. Many trees (mainly birch and pine) have grown along the fairways since the course was first established over 100 years ago, but not to detract from the heathland splendour of this layout. The accuracy of your game will be tested by several tightish holes and hitting the often small greens. Among many excellent holes, the par-3 6th, the signature hole, will challenge the best. At 190 yards from the back tees, you will need to carry a gully and then avoid a large pit that threatens on the left of the green. The maintenance and presentation of the course is usually excellent.
