The Berkshire Golf Club (Blue course): Many of the traits and characteristics of The Berkshire's Blue course are found in equal measure on its companion Red course. The Club's two 18-hole offerings are as alike as peas in a pod. Some might say the Blue is a fraction easier. However, the opening hole, a par-3 measuring well over 200 yards, and played in full view of the clubhouse terrace, will hardly give you the impression of easy-going!
The Blue, like the Red, unfolds over a very natural and immensely beautiful landscape of wooded heathland. This backdrop provides a wonderfully picturesque setting, against which your golf skills are thoroughly tested. Noise from a neighbouring busy road is noticeable on a few holes on the Blue course, although not to the extent that your enjoyment of this excellent golf course will be spoilt in any way.
If the neighbouring county of Surrey, just a drive and a 9-iron away, thought it had any kind of monopoly on splendid heathland courses, then a short trip over the border to The Berkshire would quickly dispel that claim.
