London Golf Club (Heritage course)

4-star: generally an excellent standard golf course, well worth visiting.

Where2Golf says:

London Golf Club (Heritage course): Located just a couple of miles outside the M25 orbital motorway, London Golf Club was inspired by Japanese businessman Masao Nagahara. It is home to two excellent layouts: the private, Jack Nicklaus designed Heritage course, and the equally attractive, public-access International course, created by Ron Kirby (at the time a member of Nicklaus Design).

Both London Golf Club's courses are set in wonderfully open rolling Kent countryside. The Heritage course includes several small lakes and a vast array of stylishly crafted bunkers. The standard of upkeep ensures a high quality feel as you play your way round this pleasantly challenging layout. Good-width fairways roam across the nicely undulating and relatively open terrain. Lakes, long grassy rough and small bushes pose the greatest threat to wayward tee-shots, rather than trees or dense woodland. Big-hitters and short-game aficionados alike are given their chance to shine.

The proximity of the M20 motorway on a few holes and the distant Brands Hatch motor racing circuit provide a reminder that 21st century life is never too far away. Any "traffic" noise is not however overly intrusive. The only real "issue' here is that the splendid Heritage course is reserved exclusively for members and their guests. Thankfully visitors do get the chance to sample London Golf Club's equally impressive International course.
