Where2Golf says:

Trump National Doral Golf Club (Silver Fox course): Located a couple of miles to the west of the main resort property (where you'll find Doral's Blue Monster, Red Tiger and Golden Palm courses), the Silver Fox course is the youngest of the Doral quartet. Originally known as the Silver course, for a while after a major renovation it became the Jim McLean Signature course, before reverting to its current name of Silver Fox.

Presenting a variety of golfing challenges, the layout meanders alongside many small lakes and ponds, while skirting past residential housing, which never gets too close to the generally good-width fairways. The layout includes a testing collection of par-3s, as well as several challenging stretches, not least the long 4-5-4 combination that starts the back-nine.

The Silver Fox is home to Doral's "Bermuda Triangle", a nickname for the 6th, 7th and 8th holes, a distinctly watery stretch where many balls are routinely sunk without trace. The "eye of the storm" is provided by the signature par-3 7th, featuring a testing tee shot to an island green. Wrapped alongside the same good-sized lake that surrounds the signature hole, the par-4 6th demands an impressive 220-yard carry over water if attempted from the tips. Rounding out the Bermuda Triangle the par-4 8th is one of the most scenic holes on the course, with water ominously waiting for anything hit too far right.

The narrow landing areas create a demanding game off the tee, while at the other end of each hole the greens are true, fast and accessible. For the golfer who is playing straight and true, a good score is generally achievable.

Did you know?

The world renowned Jim McLean Golf School has been an integral part of the Doral Resort since 1991, and is now the hub for an expanding number of McLean Golf Schools in other parts of the United States and beyond (e.g. Spain and Mexico).

After working on the redesign of some aspects of the Blue Monster course, Jim McLean was commissioned to significantly lengthen and redesign Doral's Silver course. For a while the layout became known as the Jim McLean Signature Course, before being renamed as the Silver Fox course. | The Silver Fox course hosted the 1999 PGA TOUR Qualifying School finals.
