11 km N of Athlone
Leave the N6 just east of Athlone and take the N55 direction Cavan / Longford / Ballymahon. After 7 km (go through Glasson) turn left direction Glasson G&CC. After 2.6 km golf is on your right.
Glasson Golf Club at Glasson Lakehouse: In common with Athlone Golf Club (located on the other side of Lough Ree), Glasson also offers splendid views over the impressive lough and its extensive reed beds, but there the similarities end.
Glasson's highly commendable Christy O'Connor Jr design, rolls its way over pleasantly undulating and relatively open terrain, bringing you down to the water's edge on the back-nine. The greens are large and full of slopes, some obvious, others less so. The bunkering is also substantive, especially around the greens.
From most parts of the course you will enjoy views onto the Lough. This scenic lake gets fully into proceedings as you enter the home stretch. Bringing you down to the shoreline of Killinure Bay (an inlet from the Lough) is the snaking par-5 14th. Next up is Glasson's signature hole, a wonderful par-3 with nothing but water and reed beds between your tee-shot and the safety of the green.
Benefitting from good green-keeping, this busy course is a firm favourite with local and visiting golfers alike. The layout, scenery and lakeside surroundings all support its inclusion in the top echelon of Ireland's inland Stay&Play venues.

Glasson's stately manor house is not perhaps the largest or most stunning in the Emerald Isle, but the views from it and from the adjoining hotel are among the finest inland views you'll experience in Ireland.
