The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort: At the time of its opening, it was difficult to keep count of the number of excellent new golf courses being added to the golfing scene around Dublin. The Heritage was up there with the best of them ... the sumptuous clubhouse facilities matched by the quality and naturalness of the golf course.
The terrain here at The Heritage is largely open and linksy. The Seve Ballesteros & Jeff Howes designed layout includes plenty of intriguing rough-edged, crinkle-cut bunkers. Water plays its part in the form of natural ditches, tumbling brooks, ponds and a small lake, alongside which the 9th and 18th holes run back to the clubhouse.
Although much of the course is played in view of the 5-star hotel, there is still a feeling of expansiveness and constantly changing scenery, based on fairways that do not crowd each other and glorious views of rural Ireland beyond the course. Considerable tree-planting has further enhanced this parkland course.
