Where2Golf says:

Albarella Golf Club: To the south of the Venetian Lagoon the outflow of the River Po has created a myriad of islands, sandbars and smaller lagoons. One of the bigger islands (linked to the mainland by road) is Albarella. Here you will find the full range of facilities of a self-contained holiday resort, complete with an 18-hole championship golf course. This relatively flat, open parkland course, is constantly within touching distance of the sea, but views onto the Adriatic are (alas) screened off by a thick line of bushes, separating the golf course from the beach. More parkland in style than duneland links, the two nine-hole loops, played on either side of the practice range, are characterised by good-width, flattish fairways, which in turn are flanked by not overly penal rough. Along the fairways and around the greens a multitude of expansive, shallow bunkers provide the principal hazard. Small trees give definition to some of the holes, while two small lakes add to the challenges on six holes, including both the front-nine par-3s. The larger and more attractive lake imposes itself at the start of the back-nine, with the very good short par-4 13th wrapped alongside it from tee to green. Although the "seaside" aspect of the layout is largely hidden from view, it is nonetheless possible to hear the lapping of the waves and catch the freshness of the sea air, as you journey round this pleasant, though undramatic course.

Did you know?

Albarella hosts many top-class tournaments during the year, and in 1986 hosted the Italian Open Championship (a European Tour event) (see our Tournaments section > by Venue > Albarella). >> The holiday island of Albarella is operated as a single, integrated holiday resort with hotels, golf, villas, and many sports activities available for its guests and residents. The entire area for miles around is shaped and fashioned by the course of the River Po, which flows out into the Adriatic Sea just 25 km south of Albarella.
